Vitamin D3 is the biologically active form of vitamin D. When combined with sufficient calcium, a healthy diet, and an active lifestyle, it can help reduce the incidence of osteoporosis. The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes vitamin D3 deficiency as a factor for many global health concerns. Statistics Canada reports that 40% of Canadians are vitamin D3–deficient in winter, and 25% during the summer months. New Roots Herbal’s Vitamin D3 Extra Strength is delivered in a medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) emulsification for accurate, proactive dosage to help prevent vitamin D3 deficiency year-round.
Directions of Use
Adults: Take 1 drop daily or as directed by your health-care practitioner. To be taken with an adequate intake of calcium.
Duration of use: Consult a health-care practitioner for use beyond 6 months.
Warnings
Contains no: Gluten, soy, wheat, corn, eggs, dairy, yeast, citrus, preservatives, artificial flavour or colour, starch, or sugar.
Cautions and warnings: Consult a health-care practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant or breast-feeding; if you have kidney disorders; if you take other vitamin D supplements, multivitamin supplements containing vitamin D, or products containing vitamin D analogues; if you take any prescription medications including antacids, anticonvulsants, digoxin, cholestyramine, colestipol, mineral oil, steroids, statins, or thiazide diuretics; and to determine if you would benefit from additional vitamin D. A dose of 15–20 mcg (600–800 IU) of vitamin D per day is adequate for most individuals.
Contraindications: Do not use this product if you have hypercalcemia or hypercalciuria.
Known adverse reactions: Discontinue use and consult a health-care practitioner if weakness, fatigue, drowsiness, headache, lack of appetite, dry mouth, metallic taste, nausea, vomiting, vertigo, ringing in the ears, lack of coordination, or muscle weakness occur, which are early symptoms of hypercalcemia, or if you have any other side effects.
