Main Tasks and Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for 175 employees (multi-company environment).
- Verify and adjust timesheets on a daily basis using Clearview time management system.
- Verify, correct, and ensure data accuracy following the transfer of timesheets into the Payworks payroll system.
- Resolve routine payroll-related issues and liaise with relevant parties.
- Act as the primary point of contact for employees for all payroll and timesheet inquiries.
- Create and maintain employee records in the timekeeping software and payroll system.
- Manage salary increases, leaves and absences (vacation calculations, statutory holiday calculations when required, etc.).
- Process employee terminations and manage Record of Employment (create, amend, submit, act as the point of contact for Service Canada).
- Perform CNESST calculations in the event of workplace accident.
- Manage alimony and other wage seizures.
- Manage the group benefits program.
- Administer the entire Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan (VRSP) for employees.
- Prepare annual tax slips (T4, TA4, R1, R3, T5, T4A-NR, T2200).
- Participate in year-end payroll file preparation.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll procedures (multi-companies).
- Participate in the pay equity exercises.
- Any other tasks or projects related to payroll and human resources.
Required Competences and Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Good written and verbal communication skills in French.
- Functional written and verbal communication skills in English to serve English-speaking employees).
- Excellent attention to detail, thoroughness, and good organization skills.
- Demonstrate discretion and maintain impeccable work ethics.
- Collaborative, reliable, methodical, and rigorous work approach.
- Possess analytical thinking and a deep understanding of payroll intricacies.
- Good team player, able to work effectively under pressure, and able to meet deadlines.
- Member of the Canadian Payroll Association (considerable asset).
Education
DEC in accounting or equivalent education and experience; Over 3 years of experience in a similar role;
Schedule
Permanent full-time position (40 hours per week)
Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (on-site)
